 Dion graced Time Square billboards after a major win of the NE Grand Prix in the American Le Mans Series 2011 | It was a bribe from dad that started "Africa's 2nd Best Driver" Dion von Moltke racing when he was 13 years old. It was onwards and upwards from there - within 2 years Dion was competing in World Championship Karting events in Italy. "Like in any sport, you have to have talent and be athletic, but it also takes hard work and determination," he says. After years of persistence, long hours training with pros, many racing and driving schools, studying for all his racing licenses, in 2011 Dion became lead driver in the TRG number 68 Porsche in the ALMS GTC class for the season. Although born in Houston, Texas, Dion von Moltke races under the South African flag as his parents are from Botswana and South Africa ... and he thinks of South Africa as his true home. He l ived in Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles before moving to Miami for his profession and education. |

1. What is your university/college qualification & college? Currently attending Florida International University.
2. What is your current title and company? Professional Race Car driver for TRG Motorsports.
3. What has been your greatest/most interesting international achievement? Winning three races, more than any other driver, in the 2009 Continental Tire Challenge Series.
4. When you were little what did you most want to be when you grew up? A professional athlete of any type.
5. What is your idea of perfect happiness? Being the first person to see that checkered flag!! Or sitting around the fire in the bush with friends and family star gazing.
 | 6. What is your greatest fear? Failure, its what drives me to work as hard as a possibly can. 7. Which historical figure do you most identify with? Ayrton Senna, his "win at all costs" attitude was amazing to watch. 8. Which living person do you most admire? Francois Pienaar, or Lance Armstrong... Francois' leadership to help unite our country or Lance's never say die attitude are two qualities I try to emulate. 9. Which talent would you most like to have? Be able to play a musical instrument, looks like fun to be in a band or a rockstar! |
10. What is your most treasured possession? My helmet! In the race car its the only way to really tell us apart, its like our face in there.
11. Where would you like to live? Camps Bay, or somewhere along the Garden Route, as long as a racetrack isn't to far away!
12. What do you most value in your friends? Competitiveness and honesty, I love to play sports with my friends and I am very
competitive, so when they are as well, it makes for a good time.
13. What is your most marked characteristic? Always trying something new and adventurous or playing sports.
14. How would you like to die? Doing something adventurous in nature.
 | 15. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? To understand how business really works a lot better than I do today. 16. What is your favorite occupation? Behind the wheel at speed, I just so happen to have my dream job! 17. What is your motto? Good luck tends to happen to those who work harder than anyone else.. weird coincidence hey?? 18. What do you want out of the most important relationship in your life? Support and love. |
20. What are the best lessons in life you have learnt from a pet? How just being there for the people you love can help.
21. What is one of the greatest strengths South African business professionals are recognized for? Perseverance, creativity, and good at working with others.. I always say the marketing initiatives back home are the best in the world!
Dion enjoys visiting South Africa, relaxing at the beach, going to the gym, and spending most weekends at the race track.
